Checking out at the supermarket recently, the young cashier suggested I should bring my own bags because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment. I apologized and explained, “We didn’t have this green thing back in my earlier days“.

The clerk responded, “That’s our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations“.

She was right about one thing–our generation didn’t have the green thing in “Our” day. So what did we have back then? After some reflection and soul-searching on “Our” day, here’s what I remembered we did have….

Back then, we returned milk bottles, pop bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles repeatedly. So they really were recycled. But we didn’t have the green thing back in our day.

We walked up stairs, because we didn’t have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didn’t have the green thing in our day.

Back then, we washed the baby’s nappies because we didn’t have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 240 volts — wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right. We didn’t have the green thing back in our day.

Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house — not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of Wales. In the kitchen, we blended & stirred by hand because we didn’t have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.

Back then, we didn’t fire up an engine and burn petrol just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn’t need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she’s right. We didn’t have the green thing back then.

We drank from a water fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn’t have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the bus, and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their mums into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn’t need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.

But isn’t it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn’t have the green thing back then?

Agak lambat rasanya untuk aku ucapkan selamat tahun baru buat semua.. especially for my blog visitors... (macam famous)... jadi HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012 AD to all of you out there... takkan aku nak wish happy new year untuk tahun masehi saja kan.. tentu untuk tahun Hijrah juga yang disambut oleh masyarakat Islam setiap tahun.

Blog aku ni bukannya ada apa pun.. setakat blog peribadi tempat aku luah perasaan... ada satu blog entri lagi belum siap aku buat iaitu entri tentang aku ke Philippines yang belum siap lagi pun untuk entri terakhir.. agak tergantung dan aku tidak suka keadaan tersebut.

Untuk tahun 2012 ni aku dah tercapai hajat aku ni.. dah dapat iPhone 4 dan Blackberry (untuk kemudahan tweeting di mana-mana). Memang berbaloi untuk aku dapatkan gajet-gajet tersebut.. begitu juga new Acer lappy yang dihadiahkan oleh seseorang. I feel happy sangat... #MissMC pun tidak sehappy aku ni.. apatah lagi Oh In Hye... walau dia kecik dan seksi, best lagi gajet-gajet aku.

Tahun ini juga aku dah nekad nak dapatkan lesen memandu sendiri.. dah geram aku naik pengangkutan awam dan ber"gabung" dengan manusia tidak bertamadun yang mementingkan diri sendiri... Mungkin aku juga nak jadi macam pemandu2 lain kot... huhu..untuk 2012 ni aku nak share lagu ni yang aku sering dengar dan begitu mencuit hati... terimalah

Today is a sad day after the launching of iPhone 4s aka iPhone 5 by some fanatical consumers on the product which according to some news headline, it failed to wow investors and consumers. Steven Paul Jobs aka Steve Jobs has passed away today 6th October 2011 (5th October 2011 EST).

This one also the final post for A Month Without Dottie (Dorothy Reynoso) On Twitter. Hope she'll read it start from here. I will get iPhone 4

This is Sunday. And i feel so tired from yesterday's gig. The Metalhhead Fest 2011. And today i can't connect to streaming again due busy to entertain my friend and my connection damn slow. I cannot control myself from making busy everyday now. Feel addicted to it. I can only be rest when i'm sleeping. If i'm doing nothing that day, i will keep thinking of her. Sometimes it makes me cry too. I MUST KEEP MYSELF BUSY!

As today i'm going back again to the jungle to teach my precious little students at school. While waiting for my cousin to come, i kept staring at the gift from her. It's a puppy doll name Warwick from Magic Blue. Honestly, i always talking with it. I always asked when will Mommy come back home because we miss her. As she told me to keep it and take care of it like a child.

3 more days before Dottie officially end her tech-fasting thingy. She's already on twitter. I really miss her and i'm glad she miss me too. It's all buddy stuff and some people will misunderstood it as love thing but no it's not. She's like a sister to me where i can talk with her about anything. I don't know if the feeling change. It all works from above.

My day so hectic this Saturday with lots activities. First, i went to the bank to withdraw some money. and after that went to meet Robin my friend from Vormit and Spitzum band. We chat a little bit about the scene and what's going on in our everyday life. Ah.. i forgot to mention Yus aka Jurman. His with Robin too.. Our convo stop when it's nearly noon... We need to get our ass move to Razz-Ma-Tazz where the Metalhead Gig 2011 held.

It's consider a sacred venue for Metal Blitz Entertainment, the organiser, Mr. Rajolly aka Cozenn. He chose that place after the Kota Kinabalu Community Hall long time ago. Maybe the acoustic sound that can be produce inside the club or the sound system provided by the owner of the club Mr. Sugumar. Who knows.. i never organise any gig there. Maybe one day if i earn more on monthly wages... heeheeh

I'm the MC of the gig.. you know what is MC? Master of Ceremony sounds like executioner doing his job by announcing who'll be the next in the death row. I'm mingling around with the band members of some band including Cozenn's own band, Demizer. We chat about lots of issues. From Palestine until the new underwear in the market. Wew.

I only managed to get home at 8.00 PM.. wow lots of celebrities at the gig including Aru from Koffin Kanser. and many more metalhead "celebrities" LOL. I mean some trend followers who thought being metalhead just being cool by showing their black t-shirt to anyone. That's so disgusting and awful too.. hahahaa. Well, enough of my blah moment.. It's time for me to sleep. Good nite everyone.

I had a flu today and it's really bad flu. I forgot my medicine in Kota Kinabalu. My sister did calls me from New York and she still want me to be back to her. Ohhh.. actually i still miss her and i can't deny that. I try making my self busy day by day but the feeling still there.

I'm hypocrite if i'm saying i don't love her anymore. Sometimes i wish she's coming back and we can make a new chapter in our life. I pray for it everyday. Hays.. and Dorothy not here to listen to my blahblah... that's why i need her now. She must be mad at me if she knows i'm not acting like a real man. What to do.. i'm only a human. I'm weak.

If i can make one wish, i wish i can go back and change everything before it's happen. I know i'm not the perfect person but i can be "super" if i'm with you. Please come back......

Hope she's fine when she get back. i'll preparing myself including shaving, and not touching myself for 8 days start from today. LOL.. just kidding. Wew... after long week at last the course ended today. I was so happy as i did attended the courses everyday. It also the week i managed to get in touch with my dad. Me and my dad are okay now. I feel poor with him because i saw him getting old now. Congrats to my self because i managed to settle the problem as a real man.

I still counting the day. Another 12 days for Dottie to accomplish her "fasting". It's a very quiet day today. Lots of my friends at the course already went away for their college registration. Maybe my turn will be end of this year.

I feel so confuse today as my friend didn't finish the task to key-in the report for Bahasa Malaysia subject yet. What the hell was that? They suppose to do it early this week and not just waiting for me to do it. Hayss... What in the world was that...

I'm thinking about my plan to go to Philippines and planning for mini gathering with my Filipino friends and IRC #laguna chatroom friends. I plan on November 20th, one day after the Bodom concert in Quezon city and the venue i plan it will be in Ayala Mall or SM Ortigas. It depends on their suggestion. I'm waiting for their feedback especially from mS_aBBy. Maybe Dottie can give me idea on this matter.

We meet again on this very beautiful Wednesday. I had a very surprised news today, one of the teacher here knew my ex-girfriend during my college day. She said she was very nice person. Good lord that was a great impression of her. Stop talking about my ex.

Now i feel like i'm back as a kid.. because today we play, sing a song, jazz chanting... especially on the cuckoo song.. i wonder if Dottie still a small girl, she must be sing the Pakitong, Kitong song with style like a crab moving from side to the other side. hahahaha...

Another 14 days for Dottie on her tech-fasting and hope she's return back in one piece and not gonna fast again after that. If not i'm gonna miss her like crazy again. Like now.. hahahahaa...

Welcome Tuesday... new day to me.. and for all of you out there. it's 15 days more for Dottie to end her tech-fasting. Today, is the second day for our course here in Hexan Hotel, Kota Marudu. The English KSSR for year 2.

I wish this course will end quicker than in the schedule but it says, it's only end on Friday and i'll be travel back again to Kota Kinabalu. My life so hectic until sometimes, i hate weekend. Hectic life makes me forgot all trouble i had in few month back. I know only Dottie understand this. hehehe that's why sometimes i need her.

My flu still here and can't breath properly especially in the morning and nite time like this. I need my medicine but i forgot to bring it here from Kota Kinabalu. I've met lots of chix here during the course. A teacher? its a big no no to me. lol. Well, i enjoy last few weeks of my life.. with work.. friends and everything.. hope everything going well again tommorow.. see ya

I forgot to update my blog yesterday.. so today here i am, on Monday, a first day of my course here at Hexan Hotel, Kota Marudu where have to attend this course for 5 days started today.

This course a bit bored at first but then it turned to be enjoyable. It's fun because we have to pretend that we're the students. And we must implement the idea of teaching our students that way when we get back to the school. It'll be next year for me. Because this year, i'm not gonna teach the Year 2 students.

Met lots of friends also new friends for example the Canadian Miss Judy and Mr. Mathieu from Ireland. They're our mentors for this course for 5 days. I'm staying at my dad's new house for the first time... and it's totally big with lots of doors. I feel like sleeping in the dungeon during at nite because it's totally dark and quiet. Wew..

I still thinking of Dorothy before i going to sleep..hahahha.. some incident also happened last nite, one of my friend Blinky from Manila just unfriended me on Facebook and twitter for no reason. She said, it's because of her boyfriend... duhhh!! before she said she don't had any boyfriend.. Weird and pathetic.. but anyway i'm cool with it.. It's ok if she wanna unfriend me.. it's not the end of the world.. luckily my gadgets more better than her. Hahahaha.. Ok have to go now. See ya tommorow

Aku Benci Dengar Radio Bahasa Melayu

Serius.. aku tidak suka dengar lagu Bahasa Melayu terutama waktu pagi. Kenapa?

1- Cuba kamu pasang radio berbahasa Melayu waktu pagi, gerenti kamu dengar banyak lagu jiwang dan putus cinta. Mendayu-dayu dan meloyakan.

2- Kadang2 lawak yang disajikan tidak lucu dan cuma untuk keseronokan sendiri.

3- Iklan berlambak dengan jualan murah segala...

Selain radio berbahasa lain terutama Inggeris, aku suka mendengar lagu dari siaran Radio online. ada beza dia berbanding radio biasa.. kerana kalau radio online itu konsepnya rock, maka dia memang rock.. terutama Metal Messiah Radio yang memainkan lagu2 rock dan metal 24/7. Tapi memang saya benci dengar stesen radio berbahasa Melayu lah.. terutama waktu pagi....

I can't update my blog yesterday since it was rainy day and i'm still sick (but i manage to go to the bundle store in town hehehe). It's Malaysia day and lots of people not going to work because its holiday and the traffic also seems fine and no jam.

My body still feel bit aching and i still feel aching here and there. I did a 20 push-up and i'm sweating like a pig afterwards. I managed to get a bundle shirts with cheaper prices. It's only RM15 for 3 pieces. All black tees. And today, i went there again and i got another shirt with super fun writing on it. "I'm a Happy Fun Guy" hahahahahahah.. so corny..

Talking about Dottie, she did message me on facebook yesterday and she's in trouble.. she want me to pray for her. Hopefully she's ok coz i'm also feel worried here. What happened to her? She dont wanna tell me until 6th October. A month after tech-fasting and she'll give the answer to me. Well, within next week, i'll be super-busy and seldom have a chance to update this blog. I'm attending a 5 days course at the town of Kota Marudu. At Hexen Hotel.

Wish the best for me. I will try to update this because i promise to Dottie, i'll do it daily. See ya again tommorow....

Good Thursday everyone.. just arrive in Kota Kinabalu city and here i stay in my mum's house in Menggatal area. I had very bad flu fever today since last nite. Fortunately, i had some medicine to make me sleeping like a log. Watering nose and eyes while my body feels hot. need to go to the clinic but the government clinic will be close tommorow due to Malaysia day.

I can't really concentrate on my daily routine today. I also having sore throat. hope it's not long until Sunday. I need to DJ for Metal Messiah Radio this Sunday. Well, tommorow Friday, i'll be going to some private clinic in town. I need to be cure. And i still missing Dottie so much...

Finish another paper for students examination UPSR this morning. Mathematics (Objective paper), another day tommorow will be the last day for it. Science and English language left. The exam today only took 1 hour and half only.

On Friday, we will having another holiday which is Malaysia Day. 16th September 1963 when Malaysia first formed after some discussion with leaders from Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore. We celebrated this event yearly. Another dream i had last nite when i dreamt about Dottie again. Hope she's fine and she's practicing her "spaghetti" dance with her cousin. hahahahahaha

Dancing with the song.. "spaghetting pa baba, pa baba ng pa baba" .. Well i am still waiting for my money that'll out next month. I wanna grab those blackberry® also an iPhone. Hays.... have to wait a month more. Anyway, my eyes feel heavy now... and i wanna go to sleep.. good nite everyone.

How i miss to update my blog last Sunday and Monday yesterday. Today is UPSR and all i do for today just sit and updating my blog. Another day, yet another week for my post A Month Without Dottie On Twitter... i bundled up the post into 3 days at once.

AMWDOT posts i dedicated to my friend, Dorothy Reynoso from Philippines who's "fasting" from technology for a month. Hope she's fine and will never feel "starve" or "thirsty". Honestly, i miss her.. ak ak ak ak.. i don't know what to say. Last 3 days i suffered with sore throat and bad flu.

Still have it 'til now. It's the effect from mango and sing alot with my students at school. We sing and we play on Friday. I'm chatting with my friend, Lyn, from Tagaytay, Philippines. She's a doctor and we chat alot on women hygiene especially in Philippines. Frankly speaking, most women in Philippines never wash their vagina and sometimes it smelly. She always ask her patient to wash it first before she check their genital area. Same goes with men there. Huh!!.. no surprises at all.. hehehe

What if your partner have a very smelly genital area? Don't know what to say..LOL.. Now i feel sleepy... new day and second day again for tommorow on UPSR. and tommorow is the English paper. Hope the students do well on their exam. See you guys again tommorow.

Happy Saturday everyone. today consider as not-really productive day to me because i'm more into resting and watching movie at my mum's home in Menggatal, Kota Kinabalu. I had a dream last nite... wew.. i dream about Dottie, my friend..she's sick and need to be send to the hospital.. or maybe it just a dream and i'm just a dreamer who always dream about something or nothing.

Or i need to take my med again because my med will be finish in few days more. I always talk to Dottie on twitter telling her anything or everything and now she's "fasting"

Today is Thursday and it's a bit cloudy outside. I logon to twitter last nite and i still can feel the difference when i tweet but no one greet me with "Yo Buddy". I really miss my buddy, Dottie.

Today my colleague not inside the room as he went for a wedding reception since last nite and i try to put my hand inside my pant but nothing can i do. I must take a rest. I remember when i check my facebook, a friend of mine Talullah Jane wanna introduce me to her friend. Maybe we can go together to Children of Bodom gig in Makati City. I asked her, "is she into rock music?" she replied, 'she's more into hiphop" whatta...... fail....

Maybe i should go with Dottie to that gig.. gonna ask her first... in a month.....
